Middlesex Presbyterian Church adheres to orthodox Christianity as described in the Articles of the Apostle’s Creed.  We stand in the tradition of classical Presbyterian theology as found in The Westminster Confession of Faith and The Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms. We govern ourselves by the Book of Church Order of The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), our parent denomination.  The PCA is an evangelical denomination holding to biblical truth; it is the fastest growing conservative Presbyterian body in the world.

Some essential tenets of the Presbyterian creeds are as follows:

• The existence of one, true and eternal God.  This God exists in a trinity of persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

• The inspiration, inerrancy and infallibility of the Bible as the written Word of God; the authoritative rule of faith and obedience.

• The sinfulness of all persons and their inability to earn their own salvation. 

• The death of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Second Person in the Trinity, as an effectual, atoning sacrifice for the sins of His people. 

• The impossibility of salvation apart from faith in Jesus Christ.  The necessity of personal faith in Jesus Christ and the concomitant need for discipleship.  

• The historical reality of Christ’s bodily resurrection from the grave. 

• The person and work of the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, in granting sinners the New Birth, enabling them to believe on Christ and strengthening them to live in accordance to God’s Law. 

• The church as the elect people of God, called out of darkness into His marvelous light as a royal priesthood of covenantal believers. 

• The imperative of the Great Commission for the church to make disciples of all the nations.

• The visible return of Jesus Christ at the end of the age to judge the living and the dead, and the reality of both heaven and hell.
